Rememberance
Paul Roberts' death was recorded on June 7th, 1945 as a First Class Seaman.
Report of Casualty
Letter home from the Chief of Naval Personnel - A. C. Jacobs
As indicated in the picture above, Roberts' was awarded the the purple heart, which is presented to service members who have been wounded or killed as a result of enemy action while serving in the U.S. military. Roberts' actions and duty as a Navy Reserve Seaman will not be disregarded. Joining the Navy at a young age to support the US demonstrates bravery and sacrifice, although Roberts' did not view his job as either of those terms. He was solely "doing his job". The Silent Hero was close with one of his crew members Leonard Lampton (his story is found on the Military Life tab).
Normandy American Cemetery
Tablet of the Missing's
